What it’s really like to be a middle school teacher.

Middle school is a time of confusion and chaos, which of course is all in your mind. One minute the students are mature and behave as if they are 30 years old, and the next they are an emotional wreck. It should be called terrible pre-teens/teens, not terrible 2’s. Hardly anyone leaves middle school and says: “those were the best years of my life!” Nope. Middle school is the time when hormones take over and people don’t know what to do with them.

“Should I cry? Should I smile and nod? Should I awkwardly look around and see what everyone else is doing so I can do it too? Oh wait, that person looked at me funny. I bet she hates me. She’s always talking about me. I just know it.” ~ The inner monologue of every middle schooler ever.

But what are the teachers thinking when dealing with these issues? In this blog, I will share the inner workings of teachers’ responses to the craziness and weirdness that middle school offers on a daily basis. Buckle yourselves in…it’s going to be a bumpy ride!
